Titanium, a worthy upgrade or just a gimmick?

    ...leaving aside allergy issues ....

Say the same watch is available in either stainless steel or titanium ...is the titanium worth the usually quite steep price hike? Does a titanium casing and bracelet offer much more than bragging rights?

I'm aware of the weight issues, but unless you're buying a real humdinger of a watch, a bit of weight on your wrist can be quite nice.

Personally, I like the lighter weight, and the duller, matt finish of titanium. However, I wouldn't pay a huge premium for it, especially as it scratches quite easily and is harder to refinish than steel.

I have many watches, ti and steel and I have to say I prefer the heft of steel by a long way, ti is best appreciated by women (in my humble opinion) but a mans watch needs some weight behind it.

I'm not a fan of Ti, it feels too light for me, I like a bit of weight. I feel Ti is only good for bragging rights, but it is easily trumped.
    Just my .02 cents
