Hey, just wanted to know how the roads are into Athlone??We have exams next week and im sure people are concerned about driving in treacherous conditions. I know that the exams are still going ahead but i just wanted to know how people feel about this. I travel an hour and a half to get there and im just a bit worried about driving next week if road conditions remain bad.:(

I tried to get down to Athlone from Longford today, but I couldn't because the busses were cancelled. The routes from Limerick and Waterford were also cancelled today, and direct services from Dundalk are cancelled tomorrow.

Apparently if you can't make exams over the next 2 weeks you'll be given the opportunity to sit your exams in August, which to me is far from ideal...

The road conditions around Athlone at the moment are lethal. There's black ice everywhere and it probably won't thaw out until the end of next week. I can't imagine too many people sitting their exams on Monday morning, it's going to be very difficult to get a bus to Athlone tomorrow and driving to the college on Monday morning is going to be far too dangerous for a lot of people. I only live a short ten minute drive from the college and even then it's still extremely dangerous for me to drive into town, my exams aren't starting until Thursday afternoon but i might get a lift in instead.
For people driving from further afield to sit the exams this week i think the college is putting them at serious risk.

I don't want to have to repeat my exams next August because of this, its very unfair on people . They should postpone them altogether until after Christmas. Are ye going to chance driving next week?

Postponing the exams until after Christmas would have been a wise decision, even though i'd love to get them finished and out of the way before Christmas because studying over the holidays would be a bit of a pain. But they're going ahead next week and it's too late at this stage to change.
