    HELP!

I live next door to a burnt out/abandoned house. Our houses are adjoined to each other.
I have just discovered that we have a rat infestation and it appears that the vermin are coming in from the abandoned house.
I can deal with our problem by using Rentokil, however, I don't know who owns the property nextdoor, the neighbours believe it was bought and never re-developed.
My problem is, who do I get in tough with to deal with the neighbours vermin infestation. I don't know who owns the neighbouring house and I don't know who should be responsible for fixing the problem.
Where do I begin with this!

    Thanks

Contact the council and inform them that the infestation is spreading. Make a big deal about "the children". If the rats are out in the public areas the council may wish to take action and follow up the owner for the bill if necessary.

Start by calling the Council and telling them of the vermin problem.

They will send an exterminator around, free of charge.

There are two issues here and the local council should have people to deal with them...

Derelict Sites should be contacted to see if they can be persuaded to board up the building

Environmental Health to deal with the public health threat from the rats.
