Strange noises in a house?

    Does anyone ever get Strange noises in the Night, And you have that horrible feeling Someone has just broken into ur house, Like thumbing noises, Like slamming a window shut? oh god i remember i got a noise like that about 2 weeks ago, thrightend the **** out of me! anyone get the same experience?

    the house "settling", heated up during the day the wooden joists swell, at night they cool down and contract. it can make all sorts of noises. same goes for pipes i would imagine.

    I think something collapsed out the back under the weight of the snow a while ago so now i'm hearing every little noise wondering what it is. And there are lots of noises..

    Op, you're home alone for the first time etc every noise you hear will worry you. Don't worry about it............... Unless there is actually an axe murderer in the house, i'd probably worry then alright....
