Hi - I would be very grateful if you could help me.

I play PS3 online wireless with a Sweetz router and Chorus NTL are the internet service provider. I don't know much about computers so I cant use the lingo so I would appreciate if you can take that into account if replying.

Every few months I am playing away and the next time I try to log in I get this DNS error (80710302 or something like that). It can last weeks meaning I pack in playing the PS3 until I check back later when the online access is restored.

I have no reason why it stops working or how it gets to be fixed.

I've followed dozens on instructions on other forums, checked YouTube etc and still can't fix it. By the way I have full internet access wireless on the laptop.

I rang NTL and they said to turn off the modum and router, which i did, but it still doesn't work.

This is some information re the wireless network which i got from the laptop:-

    Physical address: 00-11-F5-F7-IE-DA
    IP Address: 109.255.95.159
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway: 109.255.95.1
    DHCP server: 10.52.69.1
    DNS server: 89.101.160.4
    89.1010.160.5

    Hope you can help!

For the moment, we need the exact error code.
Give us something to work with.
Everything else in your post is waffle without the proper code.
I yahooed that code and got no results...

    Hi,

The exact errror is ' DNS Error 80710102'

I got it working though - but i am not sure if i just got lucky and won't face the same problem again.

I turned off the modem, router, PS3 and waited a while and then it was back working?

Did UPC provide you with the Sweetz router?

Why is the DHCP server a different address than your gateway?

As far as I'm aware DNS Error 80710102 is an error which occurs while resolving the name with the server.

An easy possible solution to this is to change your DNS settings on your PS3.
To do this go to Network connections on PS3
Click Internet Connection Settings, click yes.
    Select Custom. Wired/Wireless
For IP addres select Auto unless you are using Static.
Press Right on d-pad til you get to DNS settings. Click Manual.
    Enter the following octets.
Primary DNS 208.67.222.222 and Secondary 208.67.220.220
Click right on d-pad and hit test connection. Should sort it out.

The above are OPENDNS servers and I find them more reliable to UPC's servers.

    +1
I use open dns for my ps3 too. Found the default 3 dns servers very unreliable.
