    hi guys.

my car was set on fire by vandals last night - basically nothing is left from it. Problem is that my car didnt have "valid nct". I didnt pass nct about 6 weeks ago, didnt get back in 3 weeks, coz I didnt manage to get it all fixed on time. Now I am worried that I won't be covered because of that.
I would really appreciate any info about this issue.

    thank you very much
    John

Insurance cover shouldn't be an issue I'd have thought.

You are not required to have valid NCT on the car, if you are not using it.
So if the car was parked, you are absolutely legal, and therefore you shouldn't have any problem with your claim.

This would be my understanding of it too

Thank you. But I "was" using it. my car wasn't parked at the front of my house. I stayed over night in my friend's house. Could that be an issue?

Depends really on teh terms and conditons of your policy... Most companies dont have a problem if there is an NCT or not, but some do...

read your policy for a better answer

If it happened to me apart from been seriously peed I'd just ring the insurance co and tell I'm making a claim as some scum decided to torch my car.

I wouldn't mention the NCT unless they ask and I would just say I did the test but it failed on this and this and I was in the middle of sorting it out.

All legal and no reason for insurance payout to be declined.

Ring them and ask, don't give your policy number - state it's a general enquiry.

They may seek the NCT to assertain the value of the car but other than that there will be no issue with the claim.

I imagine it would only be an issue say if you failed the NCT due to dangerously bald tires, and you subsequently crashed because you coulnd't stop in time in the wet.

    shouldnt be an issue,
i was in a crash with no tax or nct as car was only bought.
    (unlucky car for me abviously)

but i was insured an they paid out no bother..
