District Court fine appeal

    Hi,

I was in the district court yesterday on a summons for driving in a bus lane on my way to work last April. Silly stuff really basically I turned on to the quays after Heuston Station and was turning left to get to to Brunswick street so I cut in to the bus lane for a bit seen as I was running late and turning left a hundred yards ahead.

anyway the judge fined me €40 for this which seems a bit excessive seen as the original fine should only be €60??

Is there any way I can appeal this penalty because with Christmas coming up along with everything else I really can't afford to pay it?

    Thanks guys

I don't understand. You got fined less than you expected so you want to appeal?

I think it may have been €400.

lodge an appeal in the district court - you have 21 days from date of court appearance, then when notified goto the district court appeals - the appeals judge will more than likely reduce it - but could also increase it or say its a fair amount.

Incorrect, you have 14 days to lodge an appeal not 21
