Niall Kearney has qualified for the final stage of qualifying for a European tour card for 2011

Gary Murphy failed to advance as did Gareth Shaw, Jonathan Caldwell, Barrie Trainor, Stephen Grant, Mervyn Owen, Micheal Collins, David Mortimer.

Some noticables who missed out: Philip Archer, Miguel Angel Martin, Gary Evans.

I'd love to see Kearney make it. I used to play and practice with him from time to time a few years back. Whatever you say about his game the tempo of his swing is what makes him the golfer he is.

I thought Gary Evans retired years ago and became an agent to golfers? Is Kearney the only Irishman at the final stage?

Damien Mooney made it through aswell, although some will compalin he's from the North.

Kearney is great friends with a lad I play alot of golf with so I've met him quite a few times. He is a great putter so where he may get left behind somewhat off the tee he's more than capable of making it up on the greens.

I bumped into him at the last Titleist Series in Portmarnock before he left for Spain, incidentally he won that day with a 68!

Final Qualifying is starting today (start delayed by frost).

Niall Kearney, Damien Mooney, Colm Moriarty and Simon Thornton are the Irish involved.

6 rounds over 2 courses will sort the men from the boys to determine ranks for next year.

Top 30 and ties will have an exemption on the European Tour. Anyone below the top 30 will have a Challenge tour card and some low grade membership for the European tour.

    Best of luck lads.

That's three days running there's been a frost delay. All players now won't finish r1 today, which will make an already tough, tough week even harder.

    A location re-think required for 2011 i think.

Great 65 today from Kearney to undo some of the damage of day 1's 76, tied on 141 with Simon Thornton. Damian Mooney 2 back on 143 with Colm Moriarity.

    Leader on 134.

Yeh it was a great score.

I see Sam Hutsby is back at Q school 78 70 and is at +6 way back in the field. He was going along nicely in the second round until a nice 9!!!! on the 18th . What a kick in the teeth. He is a lovely golfer. I watched him for a bit at the Irish Open.

Not looking good for Kearney today. 3 doubles look like they might cost him.

Eagles 16 to get to -4 and tied 54th. What a hero!!!

Great effort from Kearney today to shoot level par with 3 doubles on his card. Tied 55th at the moment is in a solid position as the ones who are in the card positions will be a lot more nervous than the ones who arent in the top 30.

Kearney 2 scores on the tour course have been good so far so with a bit more consistancy and luck he will get himself into a good position to get one of the cards going into the final round.

I have played with Niall a few times.

I think his greatest attribute as a golfer is he never lets bad shots get him down.

You wouldn't know from his face whether he was 5 under or 5 over par.

Unfortunetly Niall had a poor day today and is now in tied last place on level par. 9 under is the Top 30 so Niall is just going to have to show his promise on the challenge tour next year which is no bad thing( look at where Martin Kaymer is now)

There are a number of players who just lost there tour card this year just outside top 30 so they need a good day tomorrow to get there full exemptions

He has a few invites to full tour events next year. (9 or 10 I think) from the walker cup as he was injured last season.

Strange for him to have so many doubles, he is normally very steady.

It must be just the pressure from the situation he was in. It would have been a great effort from him to secure his tour card.Lets just hope he can have some solid finishes in the limeteed starts he will get on the main tour or else just qualify through the challenge tour
