    hi
    mine is a 97 polo
everyday my car lock (no central lock) gets frozen
i cant insert the key to open it
i have to pour litres of hot water on key and key hole and finally it opens
i tried some liquid to grease it - no luck
once the lock opens - next is door
    the door does not open
same story - pour hot water

i can see people driving past me in my estate when i stand pouring water for 10-15minutes

is there a solution for it?
i was looking at getting a car cover - may be it will help
lidl had one last week but its gone
the online prices for car cover is very high

    any suggestions lads?

well all i know is all that run-off water from your kettle is gonna freeze and make the road very bad!

try wd40 or im sure halfords have something

Pouring water into the lock mechanism wont help when it comes to future attempts to unlock it. I'd say WD40, then a de-icing spray for the lock. De-icing spray for the rest of the door before it freezes, then it shouldnt be so bad thereafter.

Carry a lighter with you. Use the flame to head the key and lock. The hotkey will help to unfreeze the lock. Good luck.

The water will just freeze later and make it impossible to open lock again.
As suggested before, get some silicone oil or WD40 and spray inside the lock.
This is what I did at the start of the winter and the door unlocks with no problem.

You can also use the silicone oil on the rubber door lining.
Lidl usually have W5 Silicone spray, otherwise try a motor factors or local supermarket.

try some antiseptic hand gel stuff on the lock and key. The stuff that was everywhere during the flu scare.
    It's high alcohol content helps.

Don't force it anyway, you'll end up breaking it.
If your in a carpark or somewhere with no water, your best bet is to p1ss on the lock.

Having poured liters of water into it, one thing you could do (when you have time) is to dry the whole lock out with a hairdryer ...blast it with warm air for half an hour or so while occasionally working the lock and THEN apply your silicone oil or WD 40.

The same with your door rubbers. Once it is above freezing, thoroughly dry the rubbers and the frame with a towel/tissue, warm up the rubber with the hairdryer and then apply silicone oil (not WD 40, not so good on rubber). If you can't get silicone oil, some vaseline will do the trick. Even clear chapstick (the greasy stuff for sore lips) works well on the rubber.

If you find a woman who can do that you should consider proposing.
