The poor bf recently had his car fully serviced then valeted nice and ready for winter.

He then got keyed in a shopping centre car park and has two long white scratches on his driver door, very thin but quite visible as the car is black.

He's in North Dublin, can anyone recommend either a good home solution to fill in the scratches or a garage that can fix them?

    Thanks

Unless the car is quite old and he dosen't mind a blemish he will have to get the complete panel resprayed.

It's a 03 and apart from those scratches it looks really good, any idea on the cost of respraying the door?

Black 03 Citroen C5, don't think it's ever been resprayed before, he's had it two years but don't know about that.

    Thanks

First things first, establish how deep they are. Can you get your nail down into the stratches, or does your nail glide across them? If you can't get your nail into them, they may well buff out. In that case, don't bother paying attention to the 'sure give it a go with t-cut' posts that may appear, take it to Andy from Detailer.ie - he's a boardsie called 'Separate', and will be able to remove them properly in no time.

If not, plenty of boardsies on here seem happy to recommend CarCraft.ie for inexpensive repairs in the Dublin area.

how much would it be to get a car detailed?

Thanks PaintDoctor, if I run my fingertips and bitten nails across the door, there's no real noticeable difference where the scratches are, i.e. I don't feel a groove where they are?

Could be pretty good news so. You would be very surprised what can be polished out professionally!

I got called to a lady one time who told me the whole side of her car had been scratched - explained to her I do small SMART repairs, not the whole side of a car, but she was insistent I call to see her anyway. Made the journey out and was pretty much going to tell her the same thing as I'd said on the phone, but in a friendly let her down gently sort of way, she told me a local bodyshop had quoted her 1000 euro to paint the side of her car, turns out the scratch she was worried about was actually plastic residue from a patio chair her kids had walked past the car with, 10 minutes with the polisher and you'd never know.

Give 'Separate' on here a PM and make an appointment, worst that can possibly happen is that he tells you its something he can't do.

It has, I'm so looking forward to chatting with the detailers guys might go the whole hog and treat him to the paint correction detail to get the whole car glossy.

Anyway again, thanks to you all :)
