I think he was just making a point about there being so many wood cock in and he was looking forward to having a shot after the thaw. Light hearted banter.

Get off your moral high horse!

Woodcock are really easy to pluck and get oven ready,im not mad on the taste myself its very gamey but i know neighbours that love them so any i do get i do them up and give them to anyone that likes them i have never wasted any game bird i have shot.Im fairly sure 99% of hunters have the same mentality.

Feel sorry for them at the moment must be tough going on them,im seeing a lot of snipe on the sides of the road where its slightly thawed.Pity theres no way of feeding them like pheasants.:(

Several posts deleted. Folks, please re-read and remember the charter - if you have a problem with a post, report it, don't try to police it in-thread; and those who are of a negative opinion regarding hunting, please remember that (a) the first rule in the hunting forum is to be civil, and (b) this is the hunting forum and you're probably not going to like most of what you read.

The last few days I've had a snipe feeding under a monkey puzzle tree in my front garden. It's facinating to watch them that close up and to see just how fast they work.
