Firefox won't display some images

Hey, don't know if this is in the right place but couldn't see a forum specifically for browsers.

I've been having problems with firefox and images.
For example in the you laugh you lose thread in Cool Vids, some pictures are displayed fine but on the same page there would be posts which look empty (No white square or anything where a picture would be) with loads of thanks underneath where there is an image that is not being displayed at all. I've looked at the same page in IE and can see all the images.

When I refresh the page I might occasionally be able to see some of them, but not all and it doesn't always work.

It's getting quite annoying now as some site likes youtube/facebook and even wiki aren't being displayed correctly, with them having white backgrounds with unorganised plain text and blue hyperlinks all over the place.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Could you post an example of the "white backgrounds with unorganised plain text and blue hyperlinks all over the place". Maybe a screenshot or an exmple of the text and the URL of the page where you're seeing the problem?

Will do. They occur randomly so I'll have to wait for it to happen.

    Try this

    in Tools->Options ->Content

make sure [Load images automatically] is ticked
    and clear any exceptions

Checked that all ready. All is as it should be there. No exceptions or anything.

Capt'n Midnight, I take it you mean in relation to the badly displayed pages? I suppose you could say that... Funnily I haven't come across that today really, just some images not loading

When this happens try closing your browser and re-opening and going to that thread.. (Im using MyIE2 and that happens to me sometimes)

Also make sure you dont have any filters enabled that might be blocking content (Thats the most likely issue but not always as it isnt with me)

    Good luck :)

Downloaded Chrome today and I'm having the same problem with that. So maybe it's nothing to do with Firefox?

ANy ideas what it could be?

It might be something to do with your internet connection or image host. As has been asked, please provide some examples. It'll help narrow it down.

Had the problem for weeks, just re-installed Firefox. It was probably a bad hotfix that ****ed it up.

they have the beta for version 4 up anyway, and if you download it you're helping furry animals, so its a win win.

Did you know the titular "firefox" of web browser "Mozilla Firefox" is not a pyromaniac fox, but a red panda? To clarify this, Mozilla has embarked on the cutest marketing ploy ever: adopting baby firefoxes and putting them on webcams.

If enough people download Firefox 4, the baby firefoxes get a treat. They are currently 56% of their way to earning a jungle gym. Can you imagine how cute these baby firefoxes will be playing on a jungle gym?! This is the most effective consumer incentive I have ever encountered, and I say that as a woman who won a tub of Beanie Babies at the mall in fourth grade.

Hey, yeah I haven't been having that probelm since, that's why I haven't uploaded it yet. But was in work the past two days so not online as much.

Tried emptying the cache, didn't seem to do anything.

Starting in safe mode did nothing either.

Here's a screenshot of the images not appearing in a thread.

basically the same thing as me. Again I'm inclined to think it was a patch somewhere along the line that didn't sit right. Re-installing firefox should fix the issue. It did for me anyway.

Finally an example or the badly loaded page. Youtube page loaded like this.

Also Overheal, when you reinstalled did you remove all your extensions, bookmarks etc? I reinstalled but kept my settings and it's still happening for me

I exported the bookmarks and purgified the program.

OK.. I went to that thread and the image in reply #4 didnt show UNLESS I DISABLED MY CONTENT FILTER!

    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056043742

You might have a filter set that blocks all links with 'IMG' in them....

    Example: http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/435/grouphugym7.gif

When you click the above link do you see anything?

    You should see "grouphugym7.gif"

    Yeah I can see it.

I think it was just a load of spyware f*ckin things up a bit. I've been using MSE since my Norton sub ran out a good while ago, but it doesn't pick up spyware. I didn't realise that this was a problem in terms of affecting computer performance till reading around a bit.
I downloaded Superantispyware and it detected loads of ****, which is gone now and the problems seem to have stopped.

Is there a SuperAntiSpyware log that you can post that shows what was detected?

One thing I think the OP is referring to is that Firefox doesn't display placeholders if an image fails to load, it simply acts as if there's no image at all. Confuses me sometimes.

Ya thats how i have my browser setup (If no image is loaded then it looks like NOTHING is meant to be there)
