Hoping someone can give me some recommendations based on what games i have that i like.

Have an Xbox 360 and the games i have that i think are great are Batman: AA, Assassin's Creed 2 and i quite likes Mirror's Edge and Modern Warfare 2 (but wouldn't be interested in Black Ops). Fifa 10 i have and like but would prefer to avoid Fifa 11 for now.

I have Fallout 3 and unlike most people here i think i might hate it, too much wandering around talking to people for me.

To be honest and kind of childish - i'd like a game that has cool shít in it. eg. using the grappling hook and gliding around in Arkham Asylum, double assassinations in Assassin's Creed 2, free running and jumping off high shít in Mirror's edge.

It doesn't matter if the game is a year or two old, in fact a low price would be nice! Thanks

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is out now if you liked Assassin's Creed 2. Great game, adds some really cool new features too. But as it's new, it'll probably be full price.

How about Red Dead Redemption? GTA in the wild west.

Alan Wake was one of the best games I think I ever played, took 5 years to make it!. Was the first game in years that I actually sat down and played for 28 hours straight till I finished it!.

If you like grappling hooks - Just Cause 2 is what GTA 5 should have been. its definitely work a buy, prob get it cheap now second hand too...

    Minecraft. Minecraft is Bestcraft.

I'm serious, by all rights that game should not be fun, yet it is so painfully addictive and enjoyable.

Was thinking about those two i have to say. The price of AC: Brotherhood is the only thing i'm wary of and i have Red Dead Redemption in my amazon basket; just haven't bit the bullet yet.

My impression of Alan Wake was that it was an expansive open world game kind of like Fallout, where you trudge around for hours looking for clues or some-such. I also thought it had a paranormal air about it like Alone in the Dark - which i wouldn't be into.

Had a look there at Just Cause 2, looks like a bit of craic, good price too.

    Thanks lads, keep em coming!

I've read a little about this and would be quite confident that this would not be for me - thanks though.

Dead Space can't be reccomended highly enough. Very cheap now too.

I second Dead Space if only because like Assassin's Creed and Mirror's Edge in that it's a bit of a niche game in that it has some original features/content.

I played about half of it and stopped but never got rid of it. It's staring at me right now in fact.

I stopped playing because it gets a bit thin when you're given your 100th fetch order but plenty of people seem to rate it highly.

My reservation about Dead Space would be the aliens! By this, i mean the bit i like about MW2 is shooting human characters, and the bit i don't like about Halo is shooting aliens. I just don't like games with aliens, mutants or other non-existent creatures.

Dead Space sounds a little like a mix of Event Horizon and Prototype; i love Event Horizon but am not sure i'd like it as a horror game, and the physics in Prototype are cool but there's too much slash and burn type of key bashing (and the mutants!). Having said that, the parallels i'm drawing might be completely inaccurate.

Get Dues Ex. Ancient game, but you can play it one of three ways: kill everyone, kill no-one, or a mix. Killing no-one, avoiding the cameras, sneaking around... is hard. Also, I found shooting them in the head more fun :D

Dead space has more in common with the likes of resident evil than prototype. It is one of the very few games that genuinely unnerved me. It's as much psychological as it is horror. If it's not your thing it's not your thing but you can get it for less then a 10er and you could pay 5 times as much for a rubbish game :p

I hesitate to suggest it as it's very repetitive after all the fancy bits grow old but have a look into Just cause 2,

Fallout 3 and Fallout new vegas are excellent but might not be for you.

What about battlefield bad company 2

Shadow complex from xbox live arcade is well worth a look.

If you have a semi fast internet connection why not download demo's of some of the games mentioned? It will give you a better idea of the games before you buy them.

I thought Alan Wake was one of the most disappointing games of the year. Woeful level design, Simply rubbish story, repetitive combat and Average enough graphics for all the development time it took.

Just Case 2 was one of 2 games I returned the same day of purchase. Boring, boring boring. Retarded enemy AI and Repetitive.

Dead Space on the other hand is one of the best games ever released. Gripping storyline, brilliant use of sound and probably the only game i've ever bothered to play though a number of times.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is simply brilliant online and Map Pack 7 has just been released and Battlefield Vietnam is out in two weeks.

Call of Duty Black ops is pretty good online too but the Single player is a bit boring . It has the ever brilliant Zombie mode though |:D

I'd say if you like the Assasins Creed and Batman type games then you'd also like Enslaved. It's kinda short but great story and graphics. Controls are a bit simplistic but work well.

The good lord shall provide. The 2 games you need to go out and buy are saints row 2(pref) or 1 and prototype. Saints row is like a fun gta where you can dress up your crew as cowboy ninjas while you drive around in a peddle gyrocopter firing your pimp cane shotgun, it also has lots of cool minigames like spraying sludge on peoples houses, filming a reality cop show and other fun stuff.
Prototype is great because you can run up walls, rip peoples heads of basically fly at the end of the game, throw cars and morph into different things. Its one of the most fun games ive played and i could spend hours just running around up buildings fighting helicopters and tanks and stuff

Ok, theres quite a lot to address here so i'll do my best.

The two that stand out for me so far are Red Dead Redemption and AC: Brotherhood, as mentioned in the 2nd post by paddyirishman.

Dead Space sounds like a great game but it wouldn't be my cup of tea. I've given my thoughts already on aliens/mutants and the like and i generally don't like games that are too dark - i mean that in a literal sense, on a standard def TV theres nothing much worse.

Fallout New Vegas is a no-go, as i have Fallout 3 and didn't enjoy it all.

As regards Battlefield and Black Ops, i'm not really looking for a FPS, have MW1 and 2, and although Battlefield and Black Ops both have their differences and improvements its not what i'm looking for. Zombie Mode does nothing for me.

Just Cause 2 i will have to look more at, it looks like a bit of fun but could understand that it could get old pretty quick.

Deus Ex i'm sure was/is a good game, but i would find it dated and as i said i wouldn't be looking for another FPS.

Prototype I have and found that it got old very quickly, around an hour or two. It has great stuff in it like running up the walls and the throwing cars, disemboweling people but i grew tired of it very quickly.

Saints Row 2 caught my eye and i will look into it a bit more. Looks very similar to GTA, which isn't a bad thing.

I appreciate the replies. I hope people don't think i'm shítting all over their recommendations - i just want to give an idea of what i'm looking for.

Glad to see you liked Mirrors Edge. That was a savage game that deserved to do much better.

You could pick up the first Crackdown very cheap at this stage. Can't comment on the 2nd one though.

You can't really go too wrong with either of the Gears of War games if you haven't played them. Would also be quite cheap at this stage.

I had just cause 2, it does get old quick enough
AC:Brotherhood is a great game and the new multiplayer gives it more longevity, you'll get through the single player mode in about 25 hrs, definite rental over the xmas break if you don't have the money

Super Street Fighter IV is probably the most craic I've had on Xbox 360. Fantastic game. Personally, one of my favourite things about Xbox is all the old calssic games available in the Arcade. Tons of great game to choose from there.

I'd say check out vanquish, bit on the short side but fun as hell. Also, as mentioned earlier can't go wrong with GOW 1 and 2
