    Hi folks,

as the thread says, im looking at getting a new car this month for around 12k taking scrappage into account (willing to pay 12k along with scrappage allowance).

Ive been looking at the new Renautl Clio (ive heard the Dci is far better than the smaller petrol engine but its over my budget im afraid), the hyundai i20 which im not mad about, and also the 1 litre toyota yaris which was a nice car.

What are peoples suggetions about the above if ya have the time to gimme some feedback? Also am I missing out on any other new cars that may be within my budget?

    Thanks in advance guys

Id strongly suggest the Mazda 2,reliable,great to drive, and as far as I know it comes in at a snip under 12K with nicety's such as A/C and alloys.

Its 1.3L is gutsy and will only cost 110 euro to tax.

Buy a new car now and it will depreciate more than the scrappage allowance on the 01st January.

Hold on to your car, buy a new one for cash, in January, and sell your own privately. You'll end up a hell of a lot better off.

I would never rly buy new car ... Do you realy want to spend 12k+ gettin rid of your own car to get small, dangerous car ? Look out for Lexus, BMW, Audi etc 5/6 year old car like those will get u further than new Clio or Polo ...

You could have a Fiat 500 1.2 Sport or a Punto diesel.

Wait till new year. Some of manufacturers like renault are offering scrappage deals for next year.

Yes but you have to order the car now.

OP, what are you scrapping because in spite of what some may tell you, you may not "get more" for it by selling it privately.

Fiesta might fit the bill nicely...

    Fiat Panda, Fiesta, Punto Evo

These would be at the top of my list, further down would be a Polo

Think you would be much better off to get a decent 4/5 year old used car such as an audi. It could even work out to be a better investment. Not to mention you'd be driving a far superior car.

I can safely say I wouldn't get too much for my current motor. Its a 1997 car, 280k miles on the clock, and failed its NCT miserably.
