Looking for new band members – not genre specific band really, just rich, modern music. Have own rehearsal room for the moment. New members would contribute 100 euro per month to this and you’re more than welcome to use it when the band isn’t using it or me or whatever. Its a great little room has jacks, PA and some spare backline. It’s in Templeogue so you would really need you own wheels/be nearby or be happy to get buses etc. I have access to this 24/7 on Tues, Wed, and most of the weekend. Really good deal. Its here at ‘Fortfield Park’

I’ve tried to make this brief but I’ve failed miserably :) I just find it impossible to be brief and get across what I need to get across. I guess anyone who might be interested will hopefully keep reading...

You can go to this soundlcloud which has tracks from an album the band has done and is just finished being mixed and a couple of rough rehearsal recordings from lately. As you can see, it’s been pretty poppy, broody, guitar music up to now and I’m open minded about where the sound goes. I tend to go for the darker, broodier side of things but with hooks aplenty. I’d like to play some o the album with the new band anyway, be a shame not to. as for the rest of the stuff we make, that’s an open book.

I’d like people who won’t need their hands held too much so experience would be important and talent imperative! Backing vocals important too and don’t mind people taking the lead every so often. Never enjoyed being frontman that much but since I was the songwriter thats the way it happened. I have loads of song ideas ready to go, plus a new album just finished.

    Need drummer
I need a drummer who can go from out and out rock, to full on dance grooves and I’m very interested in someone who can provide electronic/ambient/housey beats where necessary. I dont know if that means someone who would play through an e-kit or an acoustic kit player augmented by someone with electronic stuff...

    Need Keys
Basically someone who knows their way round some decent equipment and who can go from delicate piano, to orchestral, to completely blissed out Nord type synth sounds and electronica. Vocoders/voice samples etc...all good!

One other person who knows their way around sequencers, samplers, loops, programming etc and who can experiment with electronic ‘stuff’ would be great.

    Guitarist
Would entertain the idea of another guitarist too – would have to be innovative and into pedals and be more lateral thinking than your average guitarist. You probably know what I mean.

Everyone must be able understand when to stand out, when to pull back and when to stop playing completely if necessary.

Looking for mature (I’m 31 myself), musicians interested in making music for the long haul on a serious, but part-time basis. If anything came of it great. Just taking original song ideas (from me initially but open to suggestions) and developing them and layering them and seeing where it goes. I want them to be accessible but deep and layered. Nothing pretentious. Catchy is good!

I have a day job and I plan on rehearsing once a week, doing the odd gig and I wouldn’t be interested at all in going full time or totally full on unless there was the miracle of a good record contract or something. But never say never, would love the chance to go for it 100% if it made sense. Interested in recording song by song and if albums come of it, so be it.

Interested in doing everything in a slick, measured manner. No stress, no drama, just good music. I’m fairly well up on all new media and web stuff etc and I’m sure I can learn plenty from everyone else too. The business is changed so much now but its very exciting what we can do now with clever use of the web and technology. The direct-to-fan stuff is incredibly powerful now.

Experience would be great and innovation/inventiveness would be valued much more than knowing a million scales or whatever. Egos are cool but drama not so much.... I’d be more concerned to have people on board with open minds than I can get on with rather than virtuoso musicians. Not interested in playing retro styled stuff at all. This is 2010 (soon to be 2011).

If it’s a sad song I wanna make people cry, if it’s an upbeat number let’s make em dance like eejits or if they’re on drugs make em wanna smile til they’re faces ache.

Hope I haven’t scared people off with the extremely long post. You can probably tell I’m a bit anal about things but I’m pretty OK…I even have a sense of humour, I promise :) I guess this just my way of making sure I might attract the right kind of people from the get go. Its probably gonna take a few bumps...

Lazy, rude, unreliable, tardy, irresponsible, untrustworthy people - this is isn’t the band for you, no matter how good you are. I don’t need that **** and you won’t get it from me. Everyone will have to muck in to whatever we’re doing and not waste other people’s time. And you better be able to make a good cup of tea - I promise you the same :)

As for me...been writing and playing guitar for years. Wrote all the songs, sang all vox and played all guitar on the songs on Soundcloud and have been in the band for 5 years, played around 30 gigs with the lads and spent the last 2 years making the album which nearly killed me due to working with the wrong people (not the band). I certainly have a lot to learn myself and look forward to being inspired by other musicians and lifting my game.

Buzzing through my music collection, here’s what I’d play if I had to pick my favs from my fav albums of late. This is fairly off the cuff but hopefully you’ll get a picture. As you’ll see, nothing crazy adventurous or experimental, a lot of mainly modern, epic, euphoric and catchy stuff...anyways...have a look. If you like what you see, get in touch and let’s make some music.

PM please if you're interested and we can talk some more and I know people will be tempted to comment on the ad itself but try to resist :)

    Hi,
I'm interested in your project. I've been playing for over 20 years and have good gear. I can play in a variety of styles ( not so hot on jazz though!). It seems you want to for a more electronic approach which is fine by me. I use a laptop with a load of killer plug-ins and am very comfortable with this approach (I use Logic for all my recording). If you are interested contact me at derekmaher@yahoo.com.
    Thanks,
    Derek
