CDJ400 Vs CDJ350?

    Hi Folks,

Finally got round to getting some cash together. I have the opportunity to buy a set of CDJ400's or a set of 350's for basically the same amount of money. The 350's would be new, while the 400's would be well out of warranty.

From what I've read there is very little between them, but some people prefer the CDJ400 over the newer 350's. Spec wise I can't tell them apart. Both have the ability to control VirtualDJ etc and act as a sound card at the same time.

    Anyone have any advice?

I'd go for the third party candidate, a pair of 800s. I really don't like using 400s, and the 350s aren't much better.

The 800s are well more expensive and they dont have a USB slot, complete no no for the newage DJ these days ya know? ;)

I have to say in my opinion the 350 would be better than the 800. The 850 is another story, but I think USB and Digital is a must these days. I've used 800's before and they are great, but they are starting to show their age.

Does anyone know if you can get a Pioneer power supply swapped out? A friend is in the US but Pioneer power supplies over there are 120V at 60HZ, not the Irish friendly 230V at 50Hz. I don't want to lug around a transformer.

To my knowledge they don't have a switch. Its weird however as most power supplies can take 120 - 230V at either 50/60Hz. It seems a Pioneer only thing. Unless its to do with super attention to AC hum reduction by calibrating the power supply for a certain market.

I can't see any reason why they couldn't swap it out, but being Pioneer it could cost a fortune.

Its normally written above the port:

    EDIT:

Just had a look at Pioneer US and UK. In the US they are set up the American Standard. In the UK its the same as us.

Really? I've never seen any DJ use a USB. Trying to flick through 1,000 tracks on a USB would be a nightmare. Why wouldn't you just use CDs?

Not to mention the fact that 400s deal with mp3 CDs terribly, trying to search different tracks on an mp3 on a 400 is stupidly difficult, on an 800 it's just one button.

I'm still quite partial to CD's. However I have a set of Cortex HDTT5000's (On Adverts at the moment) at the moment, and when you combine a keyboard, the speed of finding a track is unbelievable. You have 1000's of tracks available but unlike a laptop, you don't have to worry about crashing as your using something purely designed to play music.

You bring a keyboard into clubs?

Ruins the look doesn't it :pac:

Big ask electrogrimey, but could you tell me does your CDJ800 have either of the following codes stamped on it?

    KUCXJ

    WYXJ

    Doing some power supply checking!
