ok, i know this is an electrical problem and this is a plumbing forum but I reckon someone can help me here.
I recently refitted our Mira electric shower after we got the shower re-tiled.
it was working fine for the last week until last night.
when i went to turn the switch off on the wall (big red switch) it would not move to Off! now that said, the light is not on, and if i press the start\stop button on the shower nothing happens.
i am thinking that the earth\live connections in the shower may have been lose and i just need to retighen them in the connection block.
has anyone experienced this before, is this the issue do you think?

take the case off and check ur connections

take the switch off and check the wiring is ok for it, not melted etc

    hi sparkpea thanks for that.
checked the connection of the shower, everything seems fine.

opened up the red switch and one of the blue wires was very black so i cut some of it off and re-connected it.
the switch now can be switched from off to on and the red light appears.
however nothing happens when i press the start button on the shower and the red switch seems very 'fragile' for lack of a better work. You know how those red switches have a very distinct click sound when you toggle them. that is not the case anymore.
I wonder if i replace the actual switch? would that be the problem do you think?

Cheap and nasty pull chord switch(Not that you paid cheap)

Its always discussed in electrical. Actually happened to me.

    Just buy a new switch...

it could be the switch, bypass it to test if you're confident at wiring, turn it off at the mains and using connector blocks connect the incoming and outgoing wires of the switch together so there is no switch and the shower constantly has power to it and try that, if that works then you know its the switch

with mira showers the on/off switch on it sometimes doesn't work if the shower is not fitted flush to the wall, if its running off at all the switch on the outer casing will not make proper contact with the main body behind it.

Just to confirm i am not going mad....

This is the pull chord switch on the wall and not anything on the shower white box itself....
