I realise that there are a couple of threads on bad driving / near misses etc in the snow but this is a sperate issue.

Over the past 2 days I have observed some horendous driving in and around the Dublin 8 area. The latest thing was today at the back gates to St.James's Hospital was people repeatidly breaking the lights. I'm really surprised that there wasn't a serious crash. I'm not talking about the usall dark green, slipping through at the last moment stuff, I'm talking blatant driving through lights that have been solid red for a good while.

Have the rules of the road been suspended like public transport ???

They think: "It's too late, if I stop now, I'll either spin out or stop right in the middle of the road, so better push forward, other cars will take long to start moving again anyway."

I've noticed some people seem to think its ok to drive on the wrong side of the road because its a bit more clear and then expect you to get out of their way!

I had this happen to me at a pedestrian crossing before resulting in a very very near miss for a pedestrian...some people are just mental behind the wheel, there will always be an element of it, just gotta hope you're not on the recieving end of it.

Lash me if you may, I've done some driving in the bus lane especially when i'm turning left far ahead. No buses or Garda bikes operating so I see why not. :)

It's crazy, even people stopped at red lights will just pull out right in front of you. And some of them are doing it deliberately slowly because they know it's icy and they haven't much traction, but they somehow don't realise that the very same thing making them go slow makes it hard for you to slow down down and not hit them.
