    Hi all,

I have recently had to cancel my wireless internet due to a crap service, but still sort of need the internet for the odd thing.

Is it possible to get one of those mobile broadband dongles for my PC that I am not tied into for a big fee or long time?

I am moving house shortly and do not want to tie myself into anything in case it doesn't work at my new address or I want to use another service when there.

so basically what I am asking, can you get a dongle that is like a PAYG phone, where you only pay for internet you use?

    Thanks

Yes, you'll pay for the dongle though and after that its PAYG so you just buy as much usage as you need :)

Depending on the operator, you buy a daily, weekly or monthly pass. Each of these will come with a set allowance. If you chose Meteor, you can't buy a 2nd monthly pass until after the first 30 days pass, even if you've used your entire allowance. Just something to bear in mind.

Thanks for those replies so far.

Any idea of what they are likely to cost me? Or who is the best operator?

They all cost pretty much the same, and there is no best. Whatever might work for you will be the best for you, and only you can see which one that is.
