Ford Transit RWD Winter Tyres

After being greatly impressed with the performance of my new Goodyear UltraGrip ICE+ on the Astra, especially compared to another Astra without winters, testing both vehicles on the same route 30 minutes apart, it only makes sense that I should get a set for the Transit 350 RWD (LWB High Roof), which has actually already been dented in the last few days after sliding sideways into a gate backing into a driveway.

I'm a bit flustered with all the tyres I've been dealing with lately so if anyone has any recommendation on a Winter tyre for the above in 215/75/R16C with a load rating of 116 (but I think 113/111 will do).

I think like the Astra, I'm better off sourcing a set of rims and to just stock the Summers in the shed for the Winter and swap them back over myself maybe in March.

The usage the van will be getting will be variable. Could be going on country roads, up hills, long motorway journeys, heavy loads (3.5tn) or light loads. But as with the research for the Astra, I think the important factor is the conditions we face here. Definitely not studded tyres, but something like the Goodyears for a Transit would be great.

    Any feedback appreciated :)

EDIT: I saw these recommended on a Ford Transit forum, Vredestein Comtrac Winters: http://camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m66b0s1492p0 has anyone used them here? :)

Good luck sourcing winter tyres at a decent price this late. I left it late myself and am having great fun in my RWD 3 series. I ll be buying though once this cold snap passes

Just off the phone to Camskill and Eiretyres and Camskill won't have them till early next year and Eiretyres don't have them either :(

I rang D26, the distrubutor for Vredestein, based in Monaghan and they said they have them in 225/65/16 but I don't think that would be suitable and they said there's a chance they could get them on a shipment before Christmas but that Ireland is last on the list of importance from the manufacturer as they aren't legally required here so we basically just get what's left.

Thanks, to be honest, I should have been more prepared, I just spent too much time on the Astra Winters and neglected to think about the transit. I actually had it in my head the tyres on the transit were all seasons, but was wrong and they are actually just summers. Having had a blow out and problems with my first set of Nokian winters and having to return them and everything took attention off sorting out the transit on time.

Does anyone know how having a set of 225/65/16 as opposed to 215/75/R16's might affect things?

Never managed to get a set on time last year, this year however, after being impressed with the ability on snow by my Vredestein Quatrac 3's, I'm thinking perhaps an all season would also suit the transit better than straight Winter/Summers. Has anyone experience of Vredestein Quatrac 3's on a transit? Are they even available for a transit? :)
