Hot water in taps but not in shower

I wonder if anyone could offer some advice please?
I have just moved to a new apartment and have yet to have a warm shower in it! The shower is fed from the hot water cylinder, it is not electric, nor is it a power shower, it's basically just a 'tap' in the wall type of shower with a fixed head. The water in the kitchen and bathroom taps is scalding hot, yet the water in the shower has never been more than just about luke warm. I removed the face of the shower to see if there was a thermostat in the shower itself but I can't see anything.
I can't see any brand or anything on the shower so I'm not quite sure how to look up any information on it.
Should I call a plumber or could there be a simple solution to this?

I would appreciate any suggestions at all!

    Thanks :)

    Hi

there is hot water coming to the shower but its just that the rotating valve inside probably moved during the fitting of the unit which means that the full heat of the hot water is not been allowed through as a result.

to fix this, unscrew the lever valve on the shower, you will see a brass dial, i would imgine that you should be able to turn this valve clockwise a small bit which would confirm what i highlighted above. turn the screw fully clockwise till it stops and attach your lever valve to the shower and you should be sorted , i hope?

    Thanks dbeermat93 :)
I will take it apart again and see if I can find the dial.
This is what it looked like the last time I took it apart....

thats exactly the dial, it should turn clockwise for you, if this happens then thats your problem solved.

let me know how it went

So. I took the shower apart again but there is no dial or valve that can be turned. In the meantime, I had one hot shower! ...and then the next day a cold one again. :( I'm am completely clueless as to what is wrong with it if it can be hot one minute and not the next!
Thanks dbeermat93 for your advice but I just don't think there's a quick fix for this one!
