Hope this is the right forum.....

My email was hacked(?) last night, I could not log in this morning as the password was not recognised.
Everyone in my contacts got a spam email.
I was able to reset the password by contacting the provider.

I received a warning that my account had been accessed from an ip in China.

    MY QUESTION:
Now that I have regained control of the account and changed to a different password, is it safe to continue using it as normal?

    Thanks.

There's no way of knowing for sure how your password was originally compromised and so you don't know what other passwords might also have been captured. You should assume for the moment that you have a virus and start here. Only when you're confident that your system is clean should you begin to relax about the passwords that you use.

It was probably an automated program which compromised your account to send spam.

However, if it was a person, it is possible they have also now got the password for any and all accounts you have registered via your email account. I strongly recommend you change the passwords on all on-line accounts, boards, included.
