I'd just like to thank all the bus, train and tram drivers, maintenance staff, and controllers who are (first of all) trying to keep the transport services running.

Far too often it's forgotten that these people are up at the crack of dawn/out late at night every day to get us to/from work or wherever we need to be. Right now they are still doing just that and I personally want to thank all of them for their hard work. It's not by any way easy, and I think people should spare a thought for the transport company staff in what are truly horrific conditions.

Serious kudos have to go to the driver of a 65 bus that left Eden Quay about 6.50pm last night bound for Blessington. I don't know how far he got, but fair dues to him!

@Clovenhoof - stop the sarcasm, it's far too close to trolling for my liking.

@everyone else - please do not respond in any way to Clovenhoof's post above. This will turn into a circular flame war in no time and people will be infracted/banned.

Monday morning I was watching lads unfreezing points out in Glounthaune train station. Freezing cold and they were working away - fair play.

The guys that man Glounthaune Station have been playing a blinder with salt - the platforms, ramps and foot bridge are well salted early each morning - keeping all the passengers safe. Another great job.

And Irish Rail staff in Kent station - tellling people to stay in the station till the train is in rather than wait on a cold platform, queue within the heated part of the station, which exit to use to stay away from the ice ... more great stuff.

thanks to all of them, it is appreciated.

I usually cycle but struggling in this weather! Been using the bus, and walking, well impressed, it's not taking nearly as long as expected, and fair dues to all the drivers I've spoken to for remaining cheery!
