(Posted this in the weather section earlier but just thought you guys might find it interesting)

I was hit by lightning today while filming for a new video I was making in Terenure College Grounds.

The lightning hit all of us holding metal objects - Me with the umbrella, And my 2 other friends, one with a shovel and the other with glasses.

Here is a link to the video footage of it.

Tbh it just sounds like you made a bit of a leaky, sqeaky fart after being hit by a snowball.

Also possibly lighted the fart at the same time, hence the flash??

I hope you've now see the light!

well this is a breakdown of what happened. but all this happened in less than a second.

    -the lightning flashed
-the metal on the umbreall lit up and i saw the current moving down it
-then i felt the current go through me, i cant really explain it other way, it just felt weird.

but i let go of the umbrella immediately.

It's odd/lucky that the camera kept functioning. Lightning strikes cause a pretty powerful, but localised EMP beside the strike point. This will fry most electronics.

And most strikes on a person cause burns and can, in some cases, throw the victim several feet in the air.

You must have been hit with a relatively weak ESD, so count yourself very very lucky!

We can't even do lighning strikes right... I'd be surprised if anyone's ever died from a lightning strike in Ireland

You were pretty lucky though. Quite the opposite from this pair, talk about bad timing
