    Hi Guys..

For some reason when I turned on my wipers after cleaning the window when I was leaving for home tonight they wouldn't come on? I cleaned all the snow & ice but still no joy..

I got home as I was lucky to have a window in between the snowing but will need the car tomorrow..

When I got home I put some de-icer and wd-40 on the moving parts and I could hear the motor but still nothing?

Any ideas? Is it the motor or just frozen? It did work on the way to work this morning...

    Thanks..

Did you turn on your wipers when they were actually frozen to the windscreen ?
If yes theres a chance you smoked your wiper motor, Very very little chance your wiper arm became faulty or relay. Must be checked by mechanic, otherwise hard to tell via forum. Motor itself wont freeze like that ...

They weren't frozen to the windscreen.. I moved my car about 90 mins before I came home and they worked..

Roger that.. I'm guessing the motor as it is not moving at all..

If it is the motor, can you give me an idea how on much it will cost?

unfortunately no idea. Get 2 wires and get power straight from your battery and connect straight to the motor, so you find out is the motor gone or not, lift them up before you test.

Sound like one of your linkages has come off the wiper mechanism.

Try moving your wiper arms if the linkages are ok you shouldnt be able to move them easily

If they move easy a linkage is off.

Or as I found out with mine this morning... the bolt holding the wiper on had worked loose over the last few days.. Was expecting a pain in the ass linkage replacement job, and escaped with a 2 min bolt tightening job.. :)

I appreciate all your help Guys.

To answer your question, the wipers will not move. I cleared all the snow and tried to move them with my hands.. no go..

Take them off and put them on again, making sure the bolts are tight, sometime the bolts "ring" when they are being forced to move whilst stuck.

Roger that..thanks..Checked that over the past 15 minutes.. and they're tight.

How could I tell if it was a fuse?

Its more than likely the fuse,

dont know where the fuse box is in a trajet, locate the fuse for the wipers and see if its broken, the location of the fuse will be in the owners manual,

do the windows work? some cars share the fuse for electric windows and wipers

I think it is the motor.. The fuse was blown but when I replaced it, it blew again and a number of times after that..

If it keeps blowing fuses the chances are there is something causing resistance in the mechanism,,,,get hot water(not boiling) into every part of the mechanism that you can possibly access, change the fuse and test again.

Are you using the same amp fuse as the original ?

Used various fuses but still blowing..put hot water over every part..still no joy..;-(

I'd a blown wiper motor, mechanic repaired it and it cost about €120 in total.

New motor would have been around 200 I seem to recall.
