I'm looking to buy spare midcaps for my M4 and have found MAG brand magazines in a pack for a good price. The site says they're ABS. I haven't used these magazines before so any advice or experiences would be extremely helpful. Thanks

    They're fantastic.

Thanks Leftyflip. I'm getting eight of them so I should have about 800-1000 BBs on me once the mags have been worn in to use full capacity. I have a vest that can hold eight M4 mags so that helps.
Any idea how long it takes for mags to set in so that you can fill them fully? I know low caps need to be tested with only a few BBs in them the first few times before they can be used properly.

i use these as well and they are probably the best mid cap out there IMO

they should wear in after a couple of fills but just make sure you keep them lubed with a bit of silicone oil from time to time

I usually lube the BBs as I'm pouring them from bag to bottle. Never had any issues with any of those mags.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I have silicon oil that I used on some low cap G36c mags I have.
I'll probably just spray oil down into the mag and not on the BBs as silicon oil can mess with the hop up a bit if it gets into it.

I mercilessly oil everything, must look into how the hop-up likes it...

Maybe it isn't that bad for the hop up, but I've heard that it'll cause the hopup to effect the BBs less for a little while. This is because there's less friction acting between it and the (oiled) BB.
The hop up unit needs friction to function, not enough to severely slow the BB, but enough to apply backspin to it. So in theory, although silicon oil can be used on many aeg parts, it will reduce the perfomance of others slightly. But it doesn't make a big difference, only a small one.

Now I know this is a little off topic, but is something to keep in mind with respect to new magazines, including these ones, when using silicone oil with them.

lubricant in the hip up unit will reduce the effect of the bucking as it work on friction and lubricant will just reduce the friction

same goes with lubricant on the bbs themselves, if you have lubricated mags then you will get a bit on the bbs but it will not be much as you really want to be lubricating the spring and follow more than anything else

another down side of lubrication on bb is that it means the bbs pick up more rubbish in the bag or magazine and they take this into your aeg

for these reason i use lubrication with care and would defiantly not lubricate bbs for example, but this is just my experience

i terms of mid caps and mags capacity, i normal take a good 20% of advertised capacity to give me a working load limit, i always find the key with mid caps is to not overload them

I'm with Puding. What I do is fill until I feel resistance. That's usually the 20% or so. I really should get around to counting how many I normally fill them with. Oh well

I realise that you can never fully fill you mags to the limit advertised and you're always better giving some space. Thats why I guess to have 800-1000 BBs stored in eight 130 rd mags. But 800-900 is more likely.
Mid caps should be easier to load than low caps as well. From my experience with my 50 rd G36c low caps.
Anyway, I ordered the mags tonight and will try to post when I've tested them out. In the meantime, I have three 300 rd hi caps for my M4.

I got them last weekend and put a few BBs through them. They're good quality but I had to tape them so they wouldn't wobble in the magwell.
They had good quality and a good capacity but they must be held and pushed forward or backwards in the magwell in order to feed. They feed flawlessly when this is done, but I was planning on buying a magwell grip but it'll be useless if this can't be fixed.
I'll see if more tape solves the problem.

    What make/model M4 is it?

It's an APS ASR101 (M4 carbine version). I think it has a larger magwell because most mags need to be taped, even the orignial hi cap that came with it. I don't mind holding the mag if it's the only way to get it feeding. But I really wanted a grip combo that includes a magwell grip but if I won't use it theres no point. I'd found the grips for a good price and all.

All you have to do is put a strip of cardboard + tape on the back of the mag (on the 'spine' of the mag), and it will hold it in place in your mag well :)

Thanks Inari, I'll try it. Unfortunately I won't be able to try that until saturday as I won't see them until then. Twice I got shot last weekend because I forgot to hold the mag correctly and the BBs didn't feed.

They are a great piece of kit and at a great price too.
Someone on boards.ie told me to put door insulation foam on the front and back of the mag and that should get it to sit right. I'll probably do that than messing about with getting the amount of electrical tape on the right part of the gun.

I have used MAG brand mids on my AK,MP7 and M4's.
    Excellent mags.
I have also used G&P,Star and King Arms mids, wish I could say that they were as problem free.
