    Hi lads

    Anyone who has UPC/Chorus or knows anyone with UPC/Chorus i need to find out some info from ye

    Are all the boxes marked Chorus needed to be replaced with UPC branded boxes??

    i not quite sure what you mean.

    do you mean do they need to be replaced
    or
    are they being replaced

    i still have a chorus branded sagem box in the house

    If they're functioning correctly they don't need to be replaced. Cablelink became NTL which became Chorus/NTL which became UPC, it's just a branding thing.

    It's no different to having an old Telecom Eireann phone in your house, just because it's doesn't say Eircom doesn't mean it won't work properly.

    The original chorus boxes (the big bulky Sagem ones, the size of VCRs) were replaced during the switch to NagraVision 3 on the MMDS system. The more recent chorus branded boxes weren't though, they seemed to only need a new access card.

    Doesn't really make much difference anyway as coylemj says, if it works, it works!

    The very first NTL boxes (Pace Di40xx series) which were also very big compared to more recent boxes also got replaced. At one stage it seemed like they were going to replace them all but that no longer seems to be the case and other NTL boxes are still in use and have recently had their EPGs finally rebranded as UPC. Not sure if this latter move is also going to occur to Chorus branded boxes though.

    Oddly enough, I always thought the later NTL boxes inferior to the Di40xxs, what with their smaller remote controls and seemingly slower software.
