AutoSocks specifically caught my eye, they sound great, but where can you buy them? I can't find them on the Halfords.ie website.

I actually got a text from Atlas this evening saying they have them for €69.

If we rarely get snow I wonder is it worth spending the mnoney.
I was thinking of snow tyres myself as can use them all yera round.

Not sure how snow socks would work when you are off snow and ice and on a properly gritted road on tarmac.

There is a easy way around snow. This is what we did last year when we were out on rescue we were in a 4x4 and the snow was heavy so we did not have the best grip. So we came up with a brain wave that if we leave air out of the tyres which actually worked now i did the same the other morning with me car and had no problem so try it people it may make your steering a bit heavy .
    Hope this helps :D

I'd imagine they have to be taken off when on a properly gritted road similar to snow chains but they don't look too awkward to remove.
