Earlier Kick Off To Saturday's Game1 December 2010, 4:46 pm By Pat Geraghty

Due to the adverse weather conditions, a decision has been made to move the kick off time for Saturday's Magners League clash between Munster and Cardiff Blues at Thomond Park Stadium from 19.30 to the new time of 17.00 to allow every possibility of the game going ahead.

All match tickets purchased remain valid for the new kick off time of 17.00.

Gates will open at Thomond Park at 15.00.

I hope the game takes place as it's our last one before the back to back games against Ospreys.

No metion of TV coverage for the game now that the KO is brought forward.

It looks like TG4 will show the game :D
    16:30 Rugbaí Beo
Live coverage of Munster v Cardiff in the 10th round of the Magners League from Thomond Park. Presented by Máire Treasa Ní Dhubhghaill with commentary by Gearóid Mac Donncha and Sean Ó Conghaile.

With hay covering the pitch I can't see it going ahead. No undersoil heating in the stadium so if they manage to make the match go ahead, it's going to be some effort.

Pity RTE aren't doing the coverage as Hook could have doubled up as a hot air blower.

Is it just me or are all of the Munster matches only on tg4 and Leinster matches on rte2 or does it just depend on the night the match is on?
is it just the cynical side of me
    :)

Or was it announced before the season that this was going to be the coverage... I might have missed it:D

I do have Irish and can understand the commentary but my other half cannot!!
Great to see the match is moved forward and hopefully it will go ahead

    Very good point.
I thought I had read somewhere that Leinster and Munster matches would be on rte2 and Connaught matches on tg4. I would watch a Connaught match if it was on either channel!!!

There's a pitch inspection tomorrow morning at 11am and a decision will be made after that.

Brilliant, hopefully it will get the go ahead:)

It would be important to play the game considering the full squad haven't played together since October and we've got a big bac to back against Ospreys starting the following week.

On another note, Ospreys fixture at home to Edinburgh is in serious doubt as Edinburgh are struggling to find suitable travel arrangements. Edinburgh Airport is closed atm.

All AIL fixtures in Connacht and Leinster have been called off.

Magners League: Connacht v Aironi and Ulster v Dragons are off too.

My reading of the weather forecast is that as they wade through snow in Thomond, it will be a quick decision.

Pity as POC needs a game and the returning Internationals, but if its the same for Ospreys then it wont be all the bad. Level pitch etc.

I'd be suprised if there was any snow at Thomond. We've only seen one shower of snow in Limerick, that was last Saturday night. It's been pretty cold though, not much ice around, but the ground will be hard.

There's snow promised for tonight but I think a thaw is also due, cant imagine it being worse than Rodney Parade last week and that game went ahead. If the ground is covered in hay then it should only be a matter of removing the hay a few hours beofre the match.

We need the match to happen.

It's also down to Cardiff being able to travel too. I reckon if they get stuck they can ferry it across.

Or they could leave it there and make it Ireland's largest Christmas crib!

Cant see the game going ahead, for the safety of the players and people travelling to the game. I dont fancy driving down from Galway for it even though it puts my season ticket to waste.

Did you see the game against Dragons, there was loads of snow and the ref couldn't make the game becuase of the weather but the game went ahead. I think Munster will make every effort to have the game on and I'd guess the early kick off is to suit Cardiff in getting an earlier flight.

 Is Paulie in the squad??

    :D If so

Glasgow vs Treviso is off and Ospreys vs Edinburgh is a major doubt due to the closure of Edinburgh airport.

It was freezing in Limerick today although we haven't got it as bad as other counties.

Weather wise in Limerick there is no reason why it shouldnt take place. If Cardiff can travel I cant see it not happening unless there is a major frost overnight.

Munster's game got the go ahead today after a pitch inspection :D

    From Munsterrugby
It's all systems go for Munster's Magners League clash with Cardiff Blues at Thomond Park Stadium tomorrow (5pm) as the pitch passed an inspection earlier today.

IRFU referee Peter Fitzgibbon (MAR) joined Thomond Park Stadium officials and Chief Groundman Nick Green for a 1pm inspection and gave the go ahead for the game. The Pitch has been covered in a thick layer of straw that will be removed tomorrow afternoon and credit must go to Green and his hard working staff for saving this fixture while all around them have been forced to cancel.

The NRA have Road Weather Info on their site, it give data like air and road temp, road condition, rainfall, etc. Open the data sheet and scroll down to N24 Pallasgreen for the Tipp to Limerick road..
