I just heard this on planet rock. He was caught with 27grams of cannabis and fined 250 New Zealand dollars. However the real story here, imo, is that this could prevent him touring with the band. A drug conviction could prevent entry to some countries.

Bunch of pricks, the cops. Not sure what his previous record is like, but if he was a first offender and co-operated, he should have got diversion (a way of avoiding conviction by making a charitable donation or doing charity work). That said, possession of 28g is deemed to be possession for supply.

Their job is to enforce the law, the real pricks are people who think it should be illegal and the politicians who pander to them.

Isn't Phil Rudd a recovering heroin user ?? ...Hope for his sake he isn't going back down that slippery slope ...

In fairness, cannabis is incomparable to heroin, it's on the same level as alcohol really

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

True , but not in terms of cross addition within recovering addicts.

It'll be years before they tour again anyway, will that still be an issue even then?

I think the general thing is 5 years or something for a country ban, but he has a good lawyer, he can probably get it sorted

you'd think he'd have been a bit more careful, he would be an obvious high profile case for local pd and an easy target for any haters.

    got off lightly enough though!!!

It's unlikely that there'll be another tour. The band are reported to be working on something at the moment but it's likely to be a Black Ice Tour DVD.

Anyway, as much as I love Rudd as a drummer......... Chris Slade could step in and do an epic job like he did on the Razors Edge Tour.

the Black Ice tour Dvd has already been filmed. It's the Buenos Aires gig. The tour is officially over anyway, maybe more dates in..... 2014?
