John Gormley - Limerick Connection?

Apparently this "Asylum" John Gormley went to School in St. Munchins College Limerick and spent a lot of time here growing up.

I was wondering how he is regarded around these parts now and if he has ever done anything of note for Limerick City, County or the People of Limerick.

Personally I think he is shameless, conscienceless and reprehensible and am sickened that he is now set to enjoys his massive Dail and Ministerial Pensions earned in his role as Fianna Fails principal enabler as they destroyed our Economy and made all of our Children's futures bleak.

    - He may someday apologise for his role but I doubt he'll ever refuse his tainted payoff.

There has been a property bubble since 1997. Gormley joined the government in 2007. Misplaced hyperbole?

I think there is a Forum somewhere if you'd like to discuss Accommodation and Property specifics.....

    - Re. what happened pre 2007, do you honestly believe John Gormley was innocent of all of it?

As for the easily employed and hugely condescending/dismissive 'hyperbole' reference, you've certainly skewed the argument by personally choosing your conveniently select interpretation - Did you really expect me to specify an exact date range as I simply stated the obvious, or was I only leaving myself open to criticism from the especially determined to detract at all costs?

So you are saying everything was going great until he got involved?

There's two issues there, a) it was the PD's, not the Green Party, that propped up successive FF Governments up to 2007. The damage was largely done by 2007 (indeed, the cracks were showing). Our Economy was destroyed by Ahern, Cowan and McCreevey in the years 2000-2006 when we could have moved our economy from a construction based one to one based on R&D and indigenous industry. Indeed, the Green Party had been advocating such a move. This period was also marked by the underregulation of the Irish banking sector.

b)Wrt "Made our Children's futures bleak". Only the Labour party opposed the bank guarantee, FG and SF (the other opposition parties) voted for it. It is the bank guarantee that is now crippling the economy and will impact on your children's lives. Yes, the Greens did support it, but apart from Labour, so did everyone. It's becoming clearer and clearer that the bankers lied to FF and FF then lied to everyone else.

The real blame should be fixed on FF, the Greens are a sideshow.

Raiser, this is not the politics forum. Neither is it the Ranting & raving forum.
Despite your OP, this thread has nothing to do with Limerick City.
    Locked.
