Can you believe it! Watching 6one news and they show the dail earlier today, and there was just two opposition leaders in the dial. 4 tds appeared to sit beside our incredible Taoiseach, on the side of the government.

How is this possible? The middle of the most significant economic situation in the history of this state and it appears that 7 people are in the house?

It's just further example of how politics has failed us! It's apparent they don't even feel the need to show up any more in order to claim their huge salaries!

Snow is not an excuse...they all get professional drivers who should be able to tackle the current roads, and in addition if this is insufficient this is the perfect time to ethically claim expenses in the form of over night accommodation...

No they don't, this facility is only available to Ministers and the Attorney General.

Also, deputies tend to enter and leave the chamber as they wish during debates, even during leaders' questions.

It only takes one person to operate a rubber stamping machine. One could argue that two people are actually unnecessary.

Would it help things if we superglued TD's to their Dail seats?

Do you actually think that anything of note happens at these "debates"? It's a charade. All the Govt TDs vote in favour of Govt stuff and all Opposition TDs vote against it... no matter how good or bad the policies are.

    It's a crock of sh1te.

Ah, so you looked up Irish politics on Wikipedia too :P

Sadly it happens all too often in all political areas. the guys who are in power go one way, the others vote against. The fate of any vote is already know the second someone does a head count before the vote.
