I have a 2000 Golf, When travelling between 80 - 100 KM/H there's a vibration in the steering wheel, I've had the wheels balanced and the tracking done and the problem remains. It's quite irritating and doesn't feel very safe especially going over 100KM mark as it gets worse when You press the accelerator. Below 80 KM/H is fine but the jhave to travel on a dual carraige way every day and it's noticable. The car hit a kerb or sometihing with a previous owner and now I think that this could have bent something thats not worth replacing.:(

    Cheers.

You could have a warped wheel or worn track rods?

Just because you've had the wheels balanced doesn't mean they are right.

Assuming the balancing is perfect, then one of the wheels may be buckled or a tyre may be distorted.

Yeah, the wheel that came off the Right side where the impact took place had a buckle in it and it was changed over with one of the rear and then balanced and tracked.

I've hopefully narrowed it down to a worn CV joint or the fact theres no wheel spacers.;)

The buckled whel even though it's on the back will still cause a shke through the car. You will only get this cured by getting it straightened
