Tax query on payslips for public service

I am doing a tax return (teacher and guard) . Is there anything on our payslips which is tax deductible. I understand the pension contributions would be deducted from the gross pay so I do not need to claim this again in the return. If anyone has any experience in preparing tax returns for someone like us I 'd be grateful for a bit of advice.

Before you get too bogged down in tax returns do you actually need to do one or can you do what you need to do on PAYE anytime?

If you do need to fill in a tax return are you using a form 12? Form 11? or Form 11 E?

Form 12 is the easiest IF you can, after that F11E and then F11

GRA Subs and union dues for the teacher possibly
There is tax relief at source for St. Pauls Medical Aid
Contributions to Garda Benevolent Fund MIGHT be tax deductible as it is a registered charity AFAIK
