Does the Wifi at work restrict the devices allowed on it by any chance? Have you spoken to your IT desk to make sure there is nothing they are using to block it?

Its probably best to contact whoever set up the computers for you. It wouldn't be wise for us to try to tell you how to get around these as we don't know what may or may not be there, how it may be set up or what problems or potential security issues could occur.

Usually, you just enter the details and jon the network.

Sometimes, restarting the phone helps if its been on for a long time. Sometimes, restarting the Wifi box helps. Sometimes, doing Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on the phone can help if something went wrong on the phone itself, but this will require you to rejoin any other network you have previously been connected to.

If you have already tried these and it hasn't worked, its likely something on the network itself.

If one wanted to "allow wifi" where would one find these settings on the computer if one was so inclined :D
    thanks

There is an issue with wifi networks especially corporate networks. UCD has a problem, the connection won't be made for about 60 seconds. While at home, you'll connect instantaneously

Judging by what your saying iOS devices are blocked. Do you really need the net that much? Its probably going to be filtered like everything else in corporate environments.

Can a laptop connect? Check you have the right WEP key
