Funny things happening to my laptop keyboard

    Howdee all,

I bought a Microsoft Curve Keyboard 2000 to hook up to my Advent laptop yesterday.

I hooked it up, and it works fine.

However, I was using the laptop on its own later that night, and when I was using the laptop keyboard, all kinds of weird stuff was happening, like numbers appearing when I typed letters etc. It seems to be all over the shop.

So, I can't write a mail on the laptop when using it on its own, I kind of have to hook up the new keyboard....?

It's like the new keyboard I bought has done something to the laptop keyboard.

Is there something basic I am missing that can correct this?

Maybe check and see if the num lock is on?

    Have you rebooted the machine?>

I hadn't rebooted at the time, but since then I notice it's still the same. I'll try and reboot and see how I go. When I type the letter "i", it comes up as a "5" instead...

That sounds like the num lock is on. At least on my laptop, when i enable the num lock and hold the fn button, pressing i brings up 5. (My laptop is a dell, so things may be slightly different)
