Fear of fire; collie

New one is this to us.

The other night, collie started acting terrorstruck; we assumed there was thunder around so gave her valium and sat it out.

Next night, the same, and no thunder anywhere.

We have a solid fuel stove here as our main heating; heats the water and radiators. Until the last few nights, the fire has been low and quiet, but we started burning more coal since the snow and it is fierce; red glow and roaring hot.

Seems collie is terrified. Natural enough of course.

Last night, we moved her bed to the bathroom and she was fine. Away from heat and red light of fire.

Wee dog meanwhile hogged the settee basking in the heat.

    Always something new with dogs

My collie is afraid of cameras, and is absolutely terrified of any electrical noise like power tools, or car washers, even torches frighten her. As you said, there's always something. Maybe she's an Amish dog.

lol..Odd thing with this one is that she hasn;t the sense to walk away from the fire... Sits there and pants and then gets hysterical. That is why it took us two days to realise that that was the problem.

Last night she suddenly freaked out at a noise on the road. We had the insight to realise the real problem and managed to get her into the bathroom; she lay down and slept 12 hours. We have to think for them. With this one we do not knwo her full story.
