Replacing the heater resistor on a 2006 Polo

    Has anyone done this?

My g/f has a Polo and the other day she noticed that her heater only worked on the highest setting (4). This is apparently because setting 4 has a direct link, or something like that.

Anyway, having done a bit of reading on the net it seems that her heater resistor has gone. From what I've read it's easy-ish to replace, although it seems that you may have to remove the glove box to get at the resistor. Has anyone done this before, or can anyone tell me the best way to find/get at the resistor to change it?

    Cheers in advance,
    Brophs

I'm guessing no one knows the answer, but I'll give this a bump anyway.

Haven't replaced one on a Polo, but have done on a few other cars.
It's pretty simple to do. The resistor card is in the ducting coming from the fan, usually behind or underneath the glovebox. Get down into the passanger footwell with a torch and look around for the ducting. You should see a bunch of wires somewhere along the duct that lead to the card.
I've replaced the resistor card on a few Japanese cars, and on them it was held in with a few screws. Just unplug the wiring loom from the card and remove the card and replace with a new one.

Quick search online found this, may not be relevant, but should give you the idea.

Thanks a million Cmar. So am I right in saying I shouldn't have to remove the glovebox to get at it?

Can't say, you might have to. Shouldn't be too difficult even if the glovebox has to come off.
