Looking to change the tyres on the car. Unlike alot of people I'd say, I'm just looking for all weather tyres. I've rang up a few garages with different quotes for all different brands from Event to Cormoran to Firestone to Kumho.

Just wondering if anyone out here could recommend a good tyre make?

I use Falken. I have FK452 at the moment but I have used the ZE912 all season in the past and found them good.

Using Toyo Proxes 4 at the moment, put me in good stead last winter. Not going to be as good as Winters obviously, but can handle mild frost and snow very well. Very good in the wet as well.

Ah, all too narrow for any of the car Im thinking about. Much more pricey onces you get out of skinny 15" specs too.

The only tyre All Season/All Weathers that have gotten a rather good rating are the Hankook Optimo 4S (H730) and the Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons.

    http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2009-autobild-all-season-tyre-test.htm

I have two of the Hankooks on the back and they certainly have not felt like they have let go in the heavy rain and snow recently.

Two more on their way for the front.

Anybody know where I can get a decent price on 1x Hankook Optimo 4S H730 (205/55/R16) in or around Dublin? Seems like most of the 'mainstream' tyre suppliers don't sell them (K105's being more common). Checked camskill & eiretyres but it doesn't seem worth it for a single tyre by the time fitting/balancing is paid for. Any recommendations appreciated.

I have tried many places in the North and South and Hankook dont stock them in the UK or Ireland so you will only be able to find them on eiretyres and other tyre places on the net since they seem to be based in other countries officially which do stock them.

There are more sites out there then Eiretyres and Camskill so do a good google of it.
One place did stock them just not in the size I wanted. Cant remember the name.

Also, eiretyres priced them at nearly double what I got them for last Summer so you may be better off waiting until off peak times of the year, but only of you can wait.

I found the difference between the old Summers and the H730's like night and day. I was amazed at how much extra bite you have on the road to get you going and get you out of heavy snow. Cornering is not something I pushed for obvious reasons but I was able to get started and make progress much better then the other cars with Summers and myself on Summers. Braking was greatly improved too. That M1 to Navan road was bloody scary on Summers.

Keep you eye out for the Goodyears as they scored just behind the Hankooks in tests and they seem to have introduced a couple of more All Seasons since then. Vector 5 or something like that.

I'm hearing a lot about these ZE912s lately, would they really be as good as a premium tyre - say a Conti SportContact3? Camskill have 215/55 17" for £75ea, they'd be for summer use only.

Online is the way to go then.

The Vector 4's are going for a much more reasonable price now then they were.

Well feck it anyway! I was set to kit the mothers car out with All Seasons but was put off by 140 euro a feckin corner!

The H730's are still a little much but they were hitting 140 as well during the Winter. Id say the Summer will yield better results again.
