Saeco machines

    Hi

I know there was a simliar post to this last week but I'm just looking for some more info!

I am getting my boyfriend a coffee machine for Chirstmas and I like the look of the Saecos (grinds beans and all that). I had thought of getting him a grinder but to be honest I don't think he will want the hassle! He likes his coffee in the morning to be as nice as possible with minimal effort! He's using a French Press at the minute.

    My questions really are:
    1. Are the Saeco machiens any good?
    2. Would anyone be able to recommend one above the other? I was looking at the Odea or the Synthia.

I think that's it for now!! If there are any other machines that are better than these, please recommend. I don't want to have to buy sachets or pods or anything like that though - tried it before and it was just a bit annoying kept forgetting to order them etc etc!!

    Thanks!

Those machines are a lot of money for a machine that won't necessarily make your BFs life any easier in terms of a simple coffee - or even create a cup of coffee thats anything better than what he drinks at the moment. Even with those machines you are going to be dependent on ordering whole beans - which aren't in huge supply in supermarkets, and then tend to be stale.

Seriously you should bring him into 3FE on middle abbey street and see what he thinks of a fresh pour over method of brewing versus espressos - and let him chat to the baristas in there for some friendly advice.

Most of us in this forum would be advocates of freshly roasted, freshly ground - you couldn't do much better than a good grinder and a weekly/monthly coffee subscription - no hassle in that.
