Well folks, I want to sign up for a Celta course in Asia and this is part of the application.. I don't have time for researching the exact terms or even have the resources as I'm driving down Vietnam on a motorbike right now and I save money if I have the application in by the 3rd.

So yea, a massive thanks if anyone can piece together any parts of the following.. Any bit at all will make my life a little easier.

    CELTA Application Task

    Part One
Use a grammar book to help you answer these questions. We would highly recommend one of the following, which will also be extremely useful during the CELTA course:
An A –Z of English Grammar and Usage by Leech, Cruickshank and Ivanic (Longman)
Practical English Usage by Swan (Oxford)

Please name the book(s) you have used: ………………………………………………….

1.Label the part of speech for each of the words in the following sentence
They made their way slowly across the deserted square

2.(i) What is the difference in meaning between the following sentences?
(ii) Identify the grammatical structure underlined in each sentence

(a)When I arrived at the station the train left
(b)When I arrived at the station, the train was leaving
(c)When I arrived at the station the train had left

    (a)She had her house painted
    (b)She had painted her house

    (a) He stopped to smoke a cigarette
    (b) He stopped smoking cigarettes

    (a) You must see him
    (b) You must have seen him

3.Spot the mistake in the following sentences and correct it. Explain the nature of each error. You don't need to go into too much depth, but your explanation should be clear enough for your students to understand. (i.e. "wrong tense" is not acceptable - you must explain WHY it is the wrong tense.)

    (a) I have 25 years.

    (b) Borrow me your pen, will you?

    (c) I like my coffee too hot.

    (d) Can you remember me to go to the bank?

    (e) I’ve lived there 5 years ago.

    (f) I am absolutely agree with you

    (g) You must to decide on your destination

    (h) She remarked the beautiful scenery.

(i)It’s not sure it’ll rain today

    (j)I’m boring with this exercise

    Part Three

In everyday English the sentence "What are you going to do?" could be pronounced something like "Whataya gonna do?" or "Whatcha gonna do?" Make an argument for and / or against teaching foreign students this pronunciation. Consider their needs as speakers, listeners, writers and readers.

    .....

Thanks if anyone replies.. I'm not sure why there's a test before we've learned the stuff but that's the way she goes.
