Just an idea. There is widespread snow across country and the areas that missed out may well see some during next few days. Plenty of tracks in the snow. Lets see some pictures!

It would be useful to have something to indicate size in the photos, ideally a ruler, but in most cases will be foot or phone etc.

I've no pictures yet, but amazed to see loads of fox tracks around, because they don't trouble my free-range hens. At the risk of going off topic even before I create the thread ;) I believe there is an understanding. They leave me alone, I leave them alone.

not so my good man, not so!
only got a light dusting, so its hard trying to find tracks let alone take a pic of them.

    we live in hope though.

Call that snow! Try this for size. My Scottie in a blizzard at Enniscorthy this morning. I was going to take a photo of his paw prints too but it was so bad that I didn't want to risk the camera getting wet. :D

Prints of the lesser spotted sap, last seen in Wicklow :D as you can see narrowly missed being run over by a truck, note the tyre marks!

got this this morning, think its a fox.

    E1CCAC8B73C8482CAA9ABAF2FB5169BD-0000335208-0002061695-00655L-233CA120D94945B286FF46C6BFE2701F.jpg

also this morning i had a lovely shot of a bird which was taking off from the snow covered ground, and along with the footprints you could make out where the wings had grazed the snow and left their mark. was whipping out the phone to take a pic when the dog wandered over to see what i was at and ruined it.!

    Lots of these

    Quite a few of these

which were then obliterated by this :D

then I saw these on the table which I hope were made by something with 2 rather than 4 legs.

Has anyone any idea what made these? Near water, I'm guessing an otter. the largest print is about 1.5 inches long.

Hmmmmm. Looking through a few books and they look like Alpine Marmot tracks - not very likely in south Co. Kildare;)

something very small with a tail that dragged in the snow

    6A26F6D12EBD48B1A1448DA00EF6741C-0000331913-0002081978-00500L-D827BCD61E46423C82CE91348D6EC3B0.jpg

I haven't a clue what this is. It's hard to make out here but there seemed to be 3 claw/ nail marks at the front. The tracks were heading right out onto the (frozen) turlough .

I'm presuming this was just a cat walking through the garden, but what's strange is that it goes from two tracks side by side, to just one track.

    Any ideas?

could it have been stalking something?

trying to minimise the noise it made by trying to use the same track, if you know what i mean?

    Stoat?

Possibly. Plenty of stone walls around to hide/ sleep in.

Some more goings-on in the back garden (suburban garden in the midlands).

    Five toes?

First one is interesting. Not made from footfall so to speak. Saw it happening a few times in the garden. Again, sorry about the dirt in the camera.

I had a track in the yard today (no camera, will try tomorrow) a line of single tracks, maybe two inches wide and six inches apart and all joined by a line. Sort of a depression in the snow joing them like something dragged behind (tail?). Any idea? Will try for pic tomorrow.
