Government like an 'asylum' - Gormley

The Minister for the Environment, John Gormley, has compared being in Government during the current economic crisis to being in an asylum.

Kind of ironic that the asylum still exists today in Ireland even after our so called years of greed and prosperity. The plans to shut down the "Asylums" was made 1984 in "Planning for our future" and supplemented in more recent times with "A vision for change" but sadly our mental health services are still somewhat archaic, and Celtic Tiger Ireland overlooked the most vulnerable members of our society while others prospered through greed and denial.

Not saying that the Greens are completely responsible, but Gormley's stigmatising Asylum terminology shows that Green issues are a million miles away from mental health issues.
It is unlikely that anyone in Ireland with mental health issues would vote green anyway. They would have to be mad :D

Actually I think it shows the Greens are being kept completely in the dark about what's going on and are only finding out about things at the last minute.

If I was them, I'd be very, very fed up by now.
