Unusual treatment planning sequence I'd have thought?

You'd have thought? Are you an orthodontist? Based on what little info I have disclosed about my case it is very unusual for you to actually have an opinion

Thats a bit agressive there shadowcomplex relax,

Its is very odd to get a permanent crown during active orthodontic treatment since the final position & bite of the teeth is unknown, usually a temporary is placed if required (large filling will suffice also). Surely you will go to your dentist (who took out the teeth) seeing as you are in the middle of a complex treatment plan that requires coordination of all involved? Dont get another person involved for the sake of trying to save a few euro. Should all this not have been done before the braces were fitted because its going to make taking impressions for a crown very messy indeed.

How much is a reasonable price for a crown?. well how much is a car or a meal??? Depends on how good a crown you want and who does it, you can get them from 300 euro to 2000 euro depending on who makes them and the dentist. Quality, longevity and appearance will vary drastically. I would say a back tooth crown done to a good standard will be between 700-1100 euro, also I wouldn't be so sure it wont need a new filling, good dentist will rarely trust an old filling they did not place when placing a crown.

All I'm saying is who is going to do it and how the crown is going to be done should have been decided way before you started getting extractions for ortho. Not to mention the issues with tooth movement and occlusion that fitzgeme pointed out.

No need for the attitude btw, you're getting free advice here.
