It's around this time that miserable grumps start complaining about Christmas while everyone else is looking forward to the hoildays & spending time with family & friends.

    :D

It's also that time of year where the tree & decorations go up, so what kinda tree are you erecting this year... a big, smelly, sticky real one, or a plastic, fake & rubbery one?

Will it be ... 96 votes

Fake - had a real one a couple of years ago and turned out it wasnt non-sheding :( - needless to say, no one dared touch the tree that year...

I had an ex-girlfriend who insisted on fakes. While they're nice to look at there not as much fun as the real thing I think. There's just not the same feeling.

Now.... what's this about Christmas trees?

Im putting up 6 fake ones. One for each year that I didnt put up any :(. Im really looking forward to twinkley lights and silly things! I had a real one in a pot but it kind of died.....

    Fake. It still sheds though!
    And it isn't rubbery.

And its not going up for at least 3weeks!

I always get a real one. Love the look & smell of them.

The only thing I hate is that I'll be picking pine needles out of the car for 6 months after dropping it off at the recycling place in January.

This thread is fair misleading. While I'm here, real I suppose. Which I would have voted anyway.

But where would I plug the lights in?

Fake... mainly cos I have one in the attic and negates the need to spend money on a real one. Though I do like the idea of a real one... especially the smell.... must get some of that christmas tree scent in a bottle to spray around the fake one :D

Last year we had a real one, but that made an awful mess and didn't look pretty,

so this year we bought a fake one, and it made an awful mess and doesn't smell as good as last years, it does look pretty though! :D....

.....well at least it did until my 16 month old decided to rip half the decorations off this morning, to give them back to me
now it's only decorated from her height up....:(

Fake and real, one room we have has a very high ceiling. We usually put a real tree in it.

Am a convert to fake. It looks pretty good although it doesn't smell as nice. I like putting the tree up really early and a real one starts looking shite before Little Christmas.

I'd usually insist on a real tree. But since I live in a shoe-box sized apartment, it'll have to be fake for convenience sake.

Has to be a real one. Its not Christmas til the house smells like Christmas tree. Don't think I'd ever bother with a fake tree.

I forgot... we have been using the same Christmas tree for the last ten years or so. It is very real. We keep it in a box in the basement during the year. It is nice to know it is there, waiting....

Both for me. Real one in the hall and fake in living room. Hopefully we'll be putting them up this weekend :)

    A nice big fake one!
We keep it up all year round, just build a false wall out of cornflake packets to hide it for the other eleven months of the year. :pac:

I hate the smell of a chrismas tree. the sap that comes off them, trying to find one that looks as good as a synthetic one,the mess you need to clear up after putting them up and taking them down, disposing of the remains...

    Synth tree for me.

You must be the only person I've ever heard say that!

Invisible. I don't do Xmas. Load o' Humbug.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I have a fake one in my flat. I wish I had a real one though.

It was easier to find a fake one in Dublin city centre and I needed a small one as my flat is pretty small. Hopefully I'll have a real one next year.

You can't be the smell of a real Christmas tree. :)

Where we're going we don't need luck.
