metatarsel tendonitis...

hi lads, i do quite a bit of running, about 40 miles a week at the moment but will up the mileage considerably after christmas in preparation for the Rotterdam Marathon in april.
however i am having a recurrence of an injury i had at the start of this
year, my metatarsel tendons of my left foot are playing up again, they're
very tender and uncomfortable to walk on, running is definitely out of the question.
now i know i should have gone straight to my physio but as many will no doubt understand cash is too tight coming up to christmas, and at 40 euro a session i just can't afford multiple sessions right now. he already stung
me to the tune of 340 quid for custom orthotics last year, and the less said about those the better...
anyway i would really appreciate if anyone has had a similar injury and has ideas on how to treat it and keep it away! i am a forefoot runner and have been using Newton running shoes for a couple of years now.

<mod> Sorry we can't discuss medical injuries here, please see the charter. What worked for one person might be the worst thing for you.
