http tunneling/sockscap problems

    Hey there folks,

Ok. so my problem is I'm behind a the trinity college proxy, trying to tunnel my way through to run WoW and the like, but having trouble. I'm having trouble using sockscap, http-tunnel client and proxifier. Noo matter how many guides I use or tutorials I watch I cannot get programs online using these applications.
The worst part is is that I know it can be done, my mate had done on the same proxy using the same software, but the trial ran out on it and he has completely forgotten how to do it!

I'd really appreciate some help with this, as its really frustrating.
My proxy IP is 134.226.1.229 and the base port is 8080.

You could try looking into OpenVPN.

I'm don't know how Trinity do authentication onto their network, they may have it setup that you are required to login before an outbound connection can be established. Your best bet is to ask someone that has done it (and remembers).

But do note, I'd imagine you're bypassing the colleges policies by trying to tunnel out like that. Have you checked to see if there are any repercussions if you're caught. Additionally, if you're logged onto the network and sending out suspicious traffic or violating TOS it would be easy enough to track you down. Just a warning so you don't find yourself in trouble.

    Thanks for the replay mate!

Trinity does require authentication, but there are ways to enter that in the programs I mentioned.
Thanks for the heads up about traffic monitering, have had no problems fro the past 2 years with "suspicious traffic" so I think I'm ok there.

I'll give the open VPN a look, but I might have tried that ages ago.

    Cheers again!

Don't forget to check the terms and conditions as I'd be fairly sure that it's a disciplinary offence to do this suspending / expelling you would be a cost saving measure.

My guess is is that the guys in Trinity are making some logs, checking them twice. Finding out who's naughty and nice... Trinity are impilmenting some packet filters or setting up definition types as a DNS group???

Your friend may have found a tunnel through that was closed off?

I used to use Corkscrew on UNIX based systems. Haven't use it in a while. But it was fairly handy.
