    Hi,
When I was in school (a while ago now :)), there were these brilliant Irish Dictionaries. They gave a precise meaning for a word and then very good examples of usage of it.

The were the Bible of Dictionaries. They were very well known and were in a big thick hardback binding like a big Oxford Dictionary.

Can anyone tell me the name of them? And is there an online version?

    Thanks.

I presume you mean Foclóir Uí Dhónaill (Irish to English dictionary) and Foclóir de Bhaldraithe (English to Irish). You can buy them on the net by clicking on the links provided, but they're not available for free online, I'm afraid. There is also an electronic version of Foclóir Uí Dhónaill (WinGléacht) which you can install on your pc/laptop which is excellent.

There are other dictionaries that available to use for free on the net as well though:

I just want to mention to everybody that WinGléacht doesn't work on 64-bit systems. The only way to get a 64-bit version is to buy it from litríocht and tell them in advance that you want a 64-bit version.
