    Hi Guys,

I'm working on a new idea, still trying to take shape but best was to describe it would be like an after school club for a specific discipline.

I'm just wondering what would I need to do this on the legal end, I know that creche have child teacher ratios and required certification etc.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Cheers

I volunteer with kids and as far as I'm aware, you'll need public liability insurance plus Garda clearance. You need to go through Barnados to get Garda clearance although they can be reluctant to issue them to self-employed people.

Also if you are male you may have to have a female colleague with you at all times - this might just relate to volunteering and not working. However, you should never be alone with children at any time, there should always be another adult with you. It just takes one nasty piece of work to ruin your life!

Yea - Public Liability is a big one, Health and safety naturally is another. Registered Carers might be a aspect (possibly will be). The Clearance is a muct and is a little bound in red tape. Your "company" MD or Charity MD/CEO has to apply for that company to be approved for clearance - that's what happened to our application anyway.

Try the local hse office aswell. They can have a bit of input and regulatory overseeing in some areas of childcare but i think its mainly pre school
