First Year Arts-History Essay Results

    Did any of ye get yers back yet? The Irish one. I did the GOI Act and got 59%. Pretty happy for a first time.

    Getting mine back tomorrow afternoon, not too worried about it. But uncertain what I got in the other essay. :D

    Yup around the 50 mark. You can only get better from this point. All about learning the skill of essay writing.

    Got it back there, got 70%. Very happy with that result. :D

    70 is an unbelievable result, you obviously have a genuine interest in the subject. I wonder what Jim Carroll got :pac:

    My second essay was atrocious so this makes up for it more than anything. :D Jim's the class rep but he's also a legend.... Undoubtedly used some more primary source documents which were unknown to the general public.:p

    I wouldnt be suprised to see him get in the 90's. The man knows everything.

    Apparently 80 is the threshold of excellence at University level. Thats what we were told by our tutor, the highest he's ever seen from a first year essay is 78.

    Interesting about the threshold. Been close and probably got it but it's a difficult mark to achieve unless a few years work and plenty of focus goes in. Guy I know got over 95 I think in an essay last year. Couldn't believe it, probably had an tutor who was an 'easy-marker'.
